Great River Shakespeare Festival YOUTH AUDITIONS

The Great River Shakespeare Festival is looking for young actors for the roles of Donalbain (Duncan's son), Fleance (Banquo's son), Macduff's children and Young Seward in this summer's production of "Macbeth." Director Doug Scholz-Carlson will audition boys and girls from age 8 through high school on Wednesday, April 11th [NOTE: CONTACT HIM FOR ALTERNATE TIMES] from 4 to 6. Students do not need to prepare anything and should dress to move. We may read from Macbeth Act 4 scene 2.

We will have a full rehearsal schedule available at the audition. In general, rehearsals for these roles will take place on a negotiable schedule mainly in the evenings from May 15th to June 17th. There is a significant time commitment days and evenings during tech rehearsals from June 17th to 27th, and the show runs from June 29th to July 28th. The performance schedule is online at www.grsf.org. Students must be available for all rehearsals during tech week and all performances.

A note to parents: "Macbeth" is a violent play. Students in these roles will be involved in professionally choreographed theatrical violence with swords, knives, spears and perhaps even a battle axe. Macduff's children and Young Seward are murdered on stage. The play also includes witchcraft in forms not taught at Hogwarts.

For an audition appointment, please email Doug Scholz-Carlson at dougsc@grsf.org, or come to the black box theater in the Performing Arts Center at Winona State University between 4 and 6 on Wednesday, April 11th.
