Oklahoma!

Costumer is hired, Becky Comnick, working out of Mankato, former professional costumer. Her bio will soon be up at theatrejm.com

Why Oklahoma! When I was looking at the larger cycle of shows (past four years, next four years) it became obvious it was time for a "big book" musical - classic, well-known, and large demographic appeal -- especially after High School Musical. So first and foremost, what is best for student/actor development at this point in time for a range of musical experiences? Oklahoma popped instantly to mind as the original plot driven musical by the greatest duo ever, Rodgers & Hammerstein. Even though it's been a standard of Poppy's for the past decade, the larger Rochester community hasn't seen the show done on a big stage in surpisingly long while, which is an opportunity not to squander. Also, I'm aware of the large audience appeal of this most frequently produced musical, so the audience will be there. Finally, we can do two things as artists: raise our production values higher for cleaner, crisper, better quality show and find some creative opportunities to play in new ways in the familiar playground of a well-known show. I hope you'll be involved!!
