behind the scenes HSM

Wow, what a high energy show this is. The dances are going to be intense and exhausting -- get that cardio going now! Initial set design in completed, maybe open to tweaking. Choreography schedule is set (3-6 Mon/Fri, 5-8 Thurs). Two songs will be handed over to choreo on Jan 24, 2 more on Feb 7, entire show on Feb 27. Two choreographers this year, Deb and also Deon, who will be helping with the contemporary/hip-hop. Auditions moved up a week. Crawl through of every measure of music this next Tuesday to start talking cuts and voices. Put in request for house light bulbs to be replaced, stage curtains raised (working on getting them repaired, too), tearing out the ice house, all stage curtains/rigging replaced by Spring 2009 (THE THESIS SHOW!!), getting the floor painted/stained darker (by 2008 spring), working on testing the fun lights bought for Footloose and seeing if we can get those 9 specials up and operating. Arguing with the red tape about JM funding three productions with the same budget as other schools do two (probably need some parent help on this one, cuz I been beatin this horse for four years and it ain't movin'). Dreaming about online ticket purchasing (like another Rochester public HS, btw). Making some pretty large assumptions about attendance. Thinking about a "Meet the Director" potluck on the first Friday night after casting with parents and cast, right on the stage, getting to know each other and talking about the show. Whew! Assistant Director, anyone?
