Honk! Audition Flyer

I'm directing Honk! this summer in Rushford, MN.

AUDITIONS for RASA’s summer musical:
Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling, HONK! is the story of Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms.

Characters: 6 adult males, 6 adult females, 4 adolescents, 6 children.
Bring a prepared piece of music to sing and be ready to stay the entire time.

Adult Auditions: Thursday, April 23th, 6:30-8:00pm, R-P HS Choir Room
or Saturday, April 25, 10-11:30am, R-P HS Choir Room

Youth Auditions (5-15 yrs): Saturday, April 25, 9:00-10:00am, R-P HS Choir Room

Performances are during Rushford Days (July 15-19) with rehearsals in the
evenings starting early June. Limited rehearsals for children’s roles. Additional information available in Audition Packets at the Drug Store. For more information, contact Eric Decker (Director) at 507-358-6869.

Jerry Casper's show @ REP

Hi everyone I can think of. . .

I'm doing a show of my own material at the REP on April 17th and 18th. The evening is titled An Evening Alone With Jerry Casper. . .and his wife. . .and a few friends. It is a fundraiser for the REP (all the arts need it right now). My "friends" are Greg Miller and Nick Mezacapa. It will also be a rare opportunity to see Ruth back on stage. (if everything works out).

The evening is a mix of short scenes (comic and serious), poetry, monologues from my motivational speaking gigs and sketch comedy

8PM/ $10/ REP Theatre.

Please pass this on to those I may have forgotten or. . .I don't know!

ALSO: Greg, Nick and I will be doing another improv performance at RCTC May 9th!!! The last one was a BLAST!!!

Thanks & Happiness,
Jerry Casper

Stage Elements (U of M) Intensive training

Greetings friends of STAGE ELEMENTS at the University of Minnesota!

We are now entering our 5th year of the program and I again need to ask for your assistance in identifying students who you feel would be strong candidates for our annual actor training program. We are looking for freshmen, sophomore and junior high school students who can handle the rigor of our 10 day intensive, STAGE ELEMENTS

As you know, the STAGE ELEMENTS Summer Theatre Institute provides students with a unique introduction to the opportunities offered by the BA Theatre and BFA Actor Training Program at the University of Minnesota. By day, students will engage in intensive workshops led primarily by Department of Theatre Arts & Dance faculty. In the evening, students will use their new skills in rehearsal work that will culminate in a performance of scene work. Students will train in several disciplines including acting, voice, movement/physical performance styles, puppetry and clowning.

Many of your students are now training with us at the University of
Minnesota in the BFA and BA Theatre Programs. Some students have had
difficulty getting into the College of Liberal Arts due to borderline GPA's. Because I've had an opportunity to work with these students, I was able to present a strong case to allow them entrance into CLA. Last week four of these students were accepted through this process.

Also of note, because of our challenging economy, we have had to increase tuition from $450 to $1000. I know this will seem unattainable for some, however please consider that students do receive 10 days of meals and accommodations at the university as part of this expense. In addition, they receive over 80 hours of theatre training from the AMAZING artists in our department.

We are also working very hard to secure more scholarship money from the college that could reduce the cost for most students. We will also have some full-scholarships available that students can apply for.

I am SO grateful to you all for your continuous support of the program.
It is only because of your passion in training students in theatre that we are able to build our programs of excellence. Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

I look forward to another exciting summer! Below is the link to our website for applications and information. Just follow the link and click on Stage Elements.
